According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, substance misuse cost the US $600 billion annually in the criminal justice system, insurance and healthcare. Earlier this year,  Seacoast Rotary Clubs of Portsmouth, Dover, Exeter, Hampton, Rochester and Durham came together as the Rotary District 7780 Rotary Initiative to bring prevention, education, treatment, support, and recovery in our local communities.

By coming together and hosting 4 forums in Portsmouth, Exeter, Hampton & Dover to Spread this initiative not only from club to club yet to those in our community. Monday’s forum, we learned of the programs, The Doorway, heard stories from Leah, a survivor, SOS Recovery, statistics from Police Chief in Kennebunk, ME, Robert MacKenzie, heard from parents, Jim & Jeannie Moser, who lost their son to overdose in September 2015 and were able to be trained on how to get involved and help pass on the message and be there to support and comfort those in need.
