THE FOUR WAY TEST

Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

    4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

Is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service

2. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life.

Club Visioning:

The committee is meeting monthly and is working on developing a vision statement. More news later.

Mark B gave a treasurers report. If you did not pick up a copy at the meeting, ask for one.

BINGO: Several areas are being address with regards to our BINGO game.

    • State issues, including new inspectors and attendance numbers are down across the board.
    • Budget: Our numbers are currently above budget projections
    • Ticket Controls: We have increased the number of Rotarians at the tables, enhanced security cameras and added an "eye in the sky". As a result, there are fewer losses.
    • July 4: Yes there is BINGO. We are contractually obligated to hold BINGO on our designated night unless it falls on one of the 4 annual holidays. There are some special games planned and a $10,000 give-a-way.

Cova G: Interact

    • The current Interact Club at Dover High School was establish in the Spring of 2012.
    • New officers were just inducted and 30-40 students attend regularly.
    • Some of the projects and events they participate in include: Apple Harvest Day, 8th Grade info night, the Festival of Trees and more.
    • Our club sponsored two students to attend United Nation Day
    • They are looking forward to next year
    • We could use a few more Rotarian volunteers to help with this.

EliotL: The Edward Jones investment account

The account currently contains $180,201, $41,000 of which is cash. 32% is in stock/mutual funds. Our overall return YTD is 4.3%

Kim A:  Shoe and Boot

The shoe and boot fund is for K-12 children who are in need. They can apply through the Dover Housing Authority. If they qualify, they receive a $40 voucher to Red's Shoe Barn. Red's gives us a discount and they bill us. This year, they have processed 115 vouchers so far.

Community Giving: This is for local projects. There was a $10,000 budget for this. Awards went to:

·        Interact

·        Joe Parks Riverwalk

·        Dover Girls Ice Hockey

·        Books

For a complete list, contact Kim Alty.

Several committees will have to report later since we ran out of time!
