Announcements:
- Ron: Received a Thank You note from the Interact Club for letting them participate in the tournament. They raised nearly $400 at the raffle.
- Pavilion project is almost done and was lots of fun. A short wall was added to prevent vandals from damaging the Pavilion area.
- There will be a Rotary Board meeting on Tuesday at the Chamber.
- Kim received a "Thank You" note from the Executive Director of Zebra Crossings, Astrid Wielens for our contribution of $500 to support Dover youth who want to attend camp. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children with chronic health conditions.
Happy Bucks:
- Ute: for her son completing his Eagle scout project; for seeing the sky after days of rain; for being late; and for not being able to find her Rotary pin
- Mark A: a sad buck for the closing of the Bangor Seminary; for his upcoming cataract surgery at the seacoast's leading medical center
- Kim: for the end of the school year
- Ron: for the help he got on the Pavilion project; and for his dad for father's day
- Norm: for his daughter Grace, who injured her wrist during a soccer game and received great care at WDH; and for missing the project Saturday because of soccer
- Malcolm and Jerry D: They put in their "two bucks worth" for WDH

BINGO: Last week we hosted approximately 130 players and sold 17 boxes of tickets. We still need help on July 4th.
Program: Grace Heine spoke about her efforts to collect school supplies for the children of Guatemala and send them there with Melissa Lesniak. Grace had a PowerPoint presentation which will be forwarded to club members to view.

What did I learn from this experience?
1. You have to be uncomfortable to be comfortable
2. Guatemala’s location in South America & size
3. How large Guatemala is compared to other countries
4. Safety of the US – security, immunizations, water & food, housing, medical
5. The opportunities that I have in the US to have the freedom to run my own business
6. When I look at the Rotarian magazine, I now understand about Rotary International
7. While watching the news, I understand about national news and 3rd World countries
8. Why those from the US and Rotary Clubs partner with 3rd World country projects
9. “Service above Self”

· Am = Tour of Guatemala City - Archology museum, and map of relief
· Pm = Tour of Guatemala City – Cathedral, central market
· Dinner = casa chapina
Sunday, April 14th – depart Guatemala, travel to Santiago
· Views of the volcanos
· Lunch at posada
· Santiago – tour of weaver’s cooperative (Cojolya), cathedral & shopping
· Social with tour group
· Dinner at posada
· Sort donations and label for correct school locations
Monday, april 15th – board boat to santa cruz
· Meet at Amigos de santa cruz – pat torpe, director
· Tour of the village
· Visit the new preschool program, elementary school, tech school
· Visit a home for a weaving demo
· Lunch at cecap – culinary arts school
· Return to Santiago via boat
· Tour of hospitalito Atitlan
· Dinner at posada
· Pack pencil cases for kids at santa marta school
Tuesday, april 16th – depart for mazatenango
· Tour of mazatenango
· Clinic, construction site, water projects – norm labbe (Kennebunk)
· Lunch with students - Kennebunk interact working on hands on project
· Clinic – working with kids on arts & crafts
· Water project – washing sand & assisting assembling water filters
· Social time with Rotarians – interactors
· Dinner with Rotarians – mazatenango
Wednesday, april 17th – depart for santa marta & sumpango
· Corp – culture of reading program
· demo with 2nd & 3rd grades
· science experiements with 2nd & 3rd grades
· distribute pencil cases to all students

· meet coed staff – tour of Guatemala literacy project (GLP)
· Meet with kids – textbook program & computer lab demo
· Depart for Antigua

Thursday, april 18th – depart Antigua to tour local rotary projects
· Meet Guatemala sur Rotarians
· Visit projects supported by recent global grant
(Rotarians are working in 9 villages with the municipality of sumpango and implementing nutrition programs, school renovation programs. Long term goal: to eradicate literacy within the municipality in 10 years)
· Return to Antigua
· Walking tour of Antigua - maria leech, wife of president of asuncion rotary club
· Tour of the casa de jade museum
· Historical sites & shopping
Friday, april 19th – return to Guatemala city
· Guatemala zoo with camino seguro preschoolers for field trip
· Visit safe passage
· Tour of the “city dump”
· Dinner with Rotarians – Guatemala sur, asuncion & del Valle clubs
