THE FOUR WAY TEST

Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

Is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service

2. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life.

Fines:

No fines this week. This is not a reward for bad behavior. Look out next week and be sure to silence your cell phones.  Someone's phone went off this week and it was feared  it could have triggered a flash mob. Either silence your phone or make your ring tone is something we can dance to.

New Member Jennifer Soldati was installed April 10, 2013. Sponsored by Ann and likely to be drafted to Team 1 please extend a warm Rotarian welcome Jennifer Soldati!!!

Foundation Minute - Nancy Boyle - As promised Nancy gave an update on the foundation and also provided data on how clubs are performing around the world, here in the USA and locally at the District level. Finger waving was part of the presentation, as Nancy wants us all to know the importance of our local contributions as it will be proportionate to any future program support. The more we give locally, the more potential we will have to support our ongoing and future worthwhile  programs.  Funds discernment will be decided at our District level based upon participation. Any questions please see Nancy.

Bingo: Team Four is Up. Peggy was unable to attend this week's luncheon due to a slight accident. Hope all is well and we hope to see her at Bingo!

Program:

Today we heard a presentation by Michele Wehrwein Albion about the publication of her new book, "The Quotable Henry Ford".  Michele grew up in Maine with a great respect for the past. She has degrees from the University of Maine and George Washington University. Before becoming a writer, she worked at a number of museums including Fort Winter Estates.

While curator at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Albion was fascinated by both Thomas and Mina Edison. "The Florida Life of Thomas Edison" was published in 2008. Her second book, "The Quotable Edison" was released in February 2011 and was a top 10 seller in its category even before it began shipping.

Her third book, "The Quotable Henry Ford" was released in February of 2013, just in time for the celebration of the sesquicentennial of Henry Ford's birth on July 30th. Her next book, "The Quotable Eleanor Roosevelt", has a projected release date of 2014.
